How do I
take care of my jewelry?
All of our items contain sterling silver, which can tarnish. Tarnishing is
a natural process caused by oxidation. It will make your silver item look
“dull”. This oxidation will not harm or damage your jewelry, it simply
needs to be removed using a soft treated polishing cloth. If you use your
polishing cloth approximately every 2 weeks, it will keep tarnish from
building up. Also, if you wear your item regularly, your natural body oils
will help to reduce the tarnishing on your sterling silver jewelry. (Be
careful when using a polishing cloth on crystal beads, as the polish can
remove the AB coating.)
Some pieces have beads that have decorative oxidation. Bali Silver beads
and the letter cube beads are examples of beads that have areas purposely
designed to become oxidized. These beads CAN be cleaned with the polishing
cloth, just be careful not to rub too hard to remove the dark oxidation
area.
Do NOT use silver cleaners on pearls or semi-precious stones as the stone
may lose it’s luster. You can use a mild soap and water solution to clean
your jewelry piece and gently pat dry with a towel.
Do NOT wear your sterling silver piece while bathing, swimming, doing
dishes or using cleaning chemicals. Also, be sure not to expose your item
to bleach, chlorine or extended time in water, as it could weaken the
strength of the bracelet. We do not recommend wearing your bracelet while
sleeping, as this could cause unnecessary stress on the components in your
bracelet. Depending on how much you wear your bracelet and on what your
daily activities are, we recommend periodically restringing your bracelet
to prevent breakage.
When you are not wearing your sterling silver jewelry, store it in a small
plastic bag or pouch (like the one the bracelet comes in) in a cool, dry
place. This will help to keep the tarnishing to a minimum. |
